Marlene began piano lessons at ten years old after her mother saw how she was drawn to her grandmother's piano. In elementary school, she began accompanying her father who played the Hawaiian guitar, and throughout her school years often accompanied church singing groups. She also learned to play the organ and the accordion.

After many years of volunteer piano and organ accompanying and leading kindergarten choirs, she began piano lessons again herself. In addition, she enrolled in the Levine School of Music in Washington, D. C. and earned a Diploma in Piano Pedagogy in 1999. She also earned an associate degree with a piano major from Northern Virginia Community College in 2007.

For 20 years Marlene has had a successful piano studio in Virginia where she has taught classical and sacred music to students age six through adult, beginners through intermediate. She has recently relocated to Arizona from Northern Virginia and has opened a studio in Surprise.

I am 22 years old and I have been teaching piano since I was 17. I attended private lessons for 9 years including ensembles, ASU programs and competitions. I am a 2007 University of Evansville, Indiana graduate.  My major was in music therapy, with my major instrument as piano and minor as voice.  I moved to Phoenix for my music therapy internship and became board-certified in 2008.  For two years, I worked full-time as a music therapist with children and adolescents who had developmental disabilities, including cerebral palsy, autism, and Down's syndrome, among others.  During this time I also taught piano and voice lessons as part of therapy sessions to higher-functioning clients.

I have been the children's choir director and pianist at Lehi Presbyterian Church in Mesa since March 2010.  I left my job as a music therapist in September 2010 due to state budget cuts, and decided to focus on creating my own music studio full-time.  I have been the keyboardist and singer in rock bands since I was 15, and my current group is called Jellied Brainz.  I am also a member of Arizona Music Project, where I receive vocal coaching, can record new music, and can be scheduled to sing at weddings, anniversaries, and other events around the Phoenix Metropolitan Area.

I currently teach out of my home in Mesa, but I am also willing to drive to your home, church, or school as long as it is within a 15-mile radius of me.  I provide in-studio lessons Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and I'm available to drive to students on Wednesday and Friday.  As I write this, I have six wonderful students, and I am looking to increase my studio to at least twenty!  It is my hope that this website will help students find me, and help me get more integrated in the music education community.  I look forward to making music with you!

Lynn Wagner has been teaching piano for over 20 years. She began teaching in McHenry, IL in 1988 and moved to AZ in 1999, and has been teaching full-time in the North Phoenix and Scottsdale area for over 11 years.

Lynn is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Phoenix Music Teachers Association. Her education includes a music degree with emphasis in music theory and piano performance. Her experience over the past 25 years has included playing for weddings, accompanying church choirs, and playing for church services.

Elise Roginiel began her musical training at the age of seven with a convent sister. She participated in the annual Piano Student Auditions and was the first student musician to receive the special High School Diploma in Music in the agricultural county of Ventura, California. Continuing her musical studies at the University of San Francisco, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with an emphasis in Piano Performance.

Ms. Roginiel has taught classical and jazz piano for over thirty years. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the Phoenix Music Teachers Association (PMTA), and the National Guild of Piano Teachers (NGPT).

Born in Berkeley, California, Michael Mortarotti is an active performer and educator on the global stage. Over the past six years, Michael has performed as alto saxophonist of the acclaimed Mana Quartet for a wide range of audiences in the US, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, and Holland. He holds a Master's degree from Florida State University, where he was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and studied under Patrick Meighan, and a Bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University, where he studied under Jonathan Bergeron. Recently, Michael relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where he is cultivating awareness of the arts through lessons, master classes, and performances.

Kia Portafekas is a musician, composer and teacher. She is a graduate of Queens College, (Aaron Copland School of Music), Mannes Conservatory and the High School of Music and Art, NYC.

Kia traveled throughout Europe and the Far East working musically with children. Her continued work with children and method of teaching lead her to the discovery that children need to be "heard" as well as seen. This realization inspired the creation of "KIA'S KIDS".

"KIA'S KIDS" created, directed and co-produced by Kia is a compilation audio cassette of original songs composed by her students on piano and synthesizer, ages 7 to 12 years old. A documentary film has also been released for promotional purposes portraying Kia teaching her students how to compose their own original compositions through colors, movement, sounds, and improvisation.

"KIA'S KIDS" realizes the natural abilities in children through improvisation and spontaneity. Her students performed and recorded their music on a video with actress Kathleen Turner for a benefit concert at Carnegie Hall. They have also performed at East Coast Art Theater, Lincoln Center and other theaters in New York. Kia has written, "Making Music With Your Child," co-authored with Karen E. Marlow. This is a first book which gives parents and teachers, regardless of their musical backgrounds, successful techniques for teaching music composition to young children. The creative skills and self-expression which result bring countless benefits to the children and their teachers, in every area of their lives. "Making Music With Your Child," is published by MMB Music, Inc. and funded in part by a grant from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Kia has appeared on Channel 5, "Arizona News," and Channel 3, "Good Morning Arizona" and "The Tonya Mock Show." David Marcum started piano in his native Michigan at the age of 11. While in High School, he was chosen to be the accompanist for MYI, Musical Youth International, a group of 100 high school aged musicians who traveled parts of the world each summer, giving concerts, promoting a good-will ambassadorship. He has performed throughout Greece and the Greek Islands, Yugoslavia, Africa, Mexico, The British Honduras, and has also given solo recitals in Germany while serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He has studied piano with Dr. Louis Nagel at The University of Michigan while working towards a B.A., and has held master-classes with famous pianists, Gyorgy Sandor, a protege of Bele Bartok, and Ivan Moravec. David has over 40 years teaching experience. David moved to Mesa, AZ in 1997 and teaches full time in his home studio. David teaches all levels of proficiency from beginner to advanced. His main focus is to develope a good sense of sight reading which is essential to rapid musical growth. His technical approach is based on the Taubman ease and injury free method. Amanda Crisalli began her musical journey with the St. Cloud (MN) Suzuki School at the age of 3 with a ruler taped onto a Cracker Jack box and a pencil. After graduating to a real violin, she decided she'd rather sit and play cello. Mrs. Crisalli has studied cello since age 5.

Not long after that, at the age of 8, she appeared in her first play, The Miracle Worker, and hasn't stopped performing since. Her first professional play was in 1992: Oliver! and Mrs. Crisalli has enjoyed critical and personal success in all types of theatre (musicals, comedies, classical, dramas) since. She also went on to work in commercials, industrial/educational films, film, television, print modeling and as a spokesperson/narrator.

In addition to theatre, Mrs. Crisalli has performed as a singer in Choirs, Women's Ensembles, Chamber Singers, County Fairs and Churches, among others.

Mrs. Crisalli was awarded a prestigious Music Scholarship to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where she sat 2nd Chair in the Cello Section of the Symphony Orchestra and studied cello and voice. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN in December 1995 with majors in English and Speech Communication Theatre Arts.

She has played with many Symphony and Chamber Orchestras over the years, most notably the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota All-State High School Orchestra and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra. She has played The Swan from Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals and Vivaldi's Concerto in G for 2 Cellos as a soloist.

I attended the University of Southern California as a music performance major in Classical Guitar. I work in a small studio in East Mesa where we teach different instruments and ensembles. I attended Richard Strauss Konservatorium in Munich, Germany with emphasis on Church Music. My primary instruments were organ and piano with a strong secondary emphasis on choral conducting, voice and ensemble. I retired from 30 years in church music filling different positions in Germany, Michigan and mostly here in the East Valley. I have my own business now but enjoy teaching too much on order to give it up entirely. I like to instill in my students a love for music and the instrument they chose. A lot can be accomplished with dilligent practice and exercise and I am a relentless pursuer of perfection in a talented student. As they learn from me I also learn from them and together we can make music that comes from the heart.

I have taught piano for 25 years. My students perform at least three times during the school year. I really focus on Music Theory, with the idea of giving my students skills to test out of Music Theory Classes in College. My name is Angie Chesley and I have been teaching piano and voice for the past 14 years, both at The Music Store and in my private home studio.

I enjoy teaching students of all ages and love to watch them succeed.  My philosophy is that music should be enjoyable as well as educational.  I focus on the technical aspects of learning music, but I feel that it is very important that the student enjoy the music that they are creating.

My love of music and the arts began very early in my life as I watched my Father play the piano and sing professionally with various bands.  When I was older I performed regularly with my Father in Nashville, TN near the Grand Old Opry at Shoney’s Inn and other venues.  I grew up taking weekly piano lessons from my Grandmother who was a music teacher in demand, and dancing with the dance company where my Mother was a dance teacher.

In High School I performed with the top choirs and was one of the accompanists for the choirs.  I attended BYU-Idaho where I was a music major and accompanied singers as well as sang in the choirs.  I have also been in many Broadway productions as a soloist, in the chorus, and in the dance team.

I have been singing professionally with the band “The Swingtips” for many years and have sung on many of their CD’s.  I am also a veteran in the recording studio and have done many professional recordings as a singer.

In recent years I have developed a love for jazz piano and have studied for the past 6 years with Steve Culp who is a professional jazz pianist and is a member of the band “Turning Point”, and with Barb Catlin who is also a professional jazz pianist and is the head of the Jazz Department as Mesa Community College.  I have had the opportunity to perform professionally with the MCC jazz combo at the Tempe Arts Festival and look forward to many more performing opportunities.

I am currently finishing my music education degree with Ottawa University and plan to continue with my masters.

I am the mother of 2 wonderful boys ages 12 and 5 and love to share my love of the arts with my boys.

Marian Pease began learning the piano as a child and has taught piano at the various levels for over 20 years. Her college and graduate level work includes studies with university professors and performing professionals in advanced repertoire and pedagogue. Mrs.Pease continues to actively participate and perform in university classes, master classes, seminars and workshops. In the studio, Mrs. Pease strives to create a climate in which each student can experience their potential with continual musical, intellectual, and emotional growth. Students thrive in this supportive, nurturing atmosphere that promotes excellence in music making. Mrs. Pease keeps her studio at about 20 private student. She also has an exciting new adventure; Recreational Music Making (RMM) for groups of adults, to learn and share in music making in a relaxed and supportive environment. Liz G. Owens has over 25 years experience as a private piano instructor. As a teenager, she studied piano with Virgiana Willard then continued her music studies at BYU, receiving her B.A. in 1983. She currently maintains a private piano studio in the Northeast Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

Liz has been an accompanist and choir director for many years and enjoys conducting for the Phoenix Piano Ensemble. Julie Ann Neuberger, a double masters and classically trained piano and  vocal instructor, is the director and founder of The Scottsdale Studio of Music, a music school offering lessons in classically focused instruments. Julie Ann's goal for The Scottsdale Studio of Music is to offer a musically rich and inspiring environment in which learning and creativity can flourish.  The music teaching philosophy of the studio is to keep music lessons fun and engaging while giving students an excellent foundation of the music essentials: music reading, rhythmic control, technique, musicianship, and performance skill. WIth these essential music tools, a classically trained music student can capably branch out into any form of music.

During her graduate studies in South Carolina, Ms. Neuberger served as a piano faculty member of the University of South Carolina Community Music Program and taught for her private piano studio. Ms. Neuberger has performed as the pianist in several chamber groups, as well as in solo piano recitals in South Carolina, Massachusetts, and Maryland. She has served as a piano adjudicator for several piano festivals associated with the Music Teacher's National Association and a masterclass clinician for several events. Ms. Neuberger has lived in the Valley for the past four years and currently resides in Scottsdale.  Ms. Neuberger is a member of the National Association of Piano Guild, the Music Teacher's National Association, Arizona State Music Teacher's Association, the Phoenix Music Teacher's Association, and the East Valley Music Teacher's Association. These professional memberships allow Ms. Neuberge's students to compete and participate in motivating and skill-building competitions, festivals, and other music events.

I have been a piano teacher for over 25 years! I earned my BA in Education from University of Arizona and Masters in Music History from Arizona State. My goal is to develop a life skill in piano and prepare my students to enjoy playing the piano their whole life long!

The ASU Piano Prep Program offers superior piano instruction to children (elementary through high school) in a creative and highly motivating learning environment. I am a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors Degree in Instrumental Performance on the Viola. While at NAU, I performed in many chamber groups and focused on solo performance.

Experience: I was principal of the viola section of both the NAU Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra for 3 years. I was a member of Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra on the viola for 4 years in 3rd chair. I was also a member of the Verde Valley Sinfonietta for 1 year in the position of 2nd chair on the viola.

I started playing the violin when I was 9 years old at Franklin Elementary School. I participated in Metropolitan Youth Orchestra for 4 years (6th grade-9th grade). I also participated in MYPO (Mesa Young People Orchestra) in 5th grade and Junior High Honor Orchestras throughout my years in Junior High. My first year of High School I decided to switch my emphasis over to the viola. I achieved Arizona All-State for the viola 3 years in a row and was principal of the viola section my senior year.

Jamie Showers began her music career as a vocal performance major and received her bachelor's degree in Voice Performance. She started singing at the age of seven. She studied piano, guitar, and played the string bass, too. Her performance degree led her to further study to become a music therapist and a music educator. She recieved her Vocal Performance Degree at Ottawa University and finished her Music Therapy and Music Education Training through Arizona State University

Mrs. Showers has taught for seven years in the public school system where she has taught General Music and Beginning Strings. She has also taught the Yamaha Keyboard Program in the public school system. She has been a member of Arizona Music Educators association over the past seven years.

Mrs. Showers teaches lessons in her home studio. She offers the Arizona Study Program to qualified Voice and Piano students.

Stephanie Jones is a graduate of Northern Arizona University where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2005. She was the student of Dr. Frank Scott.  Ms. Jones studied Suzuki Pedagogy with Diana Galindo and has earned her Suzuki Certification through Book 3.

Ms. Jones has taught students of various ages for the last 9 years using both Suzuki and Traditional methods.  She has experience as both a private and group lesson piano teacher. Ms. Jones taught in the Northern Arizona University Preparatory School of Music for 3 years, maintained a private studio in Flagstaff for 2 years, the Grand Canyon for 1 year, and currently resides in Gilbert Arizona where she has been building a successful private studio for the past 3 years.  

Ms. Jones encourages her students to take advantage of performance opportunities. Her studio holds regular recitals and Ms. Jones encourages her students to be active in the Arizona Study Program.

I graduated from the Arizona State University School of Music with a degree in Music Therapy. I have been playing the piano for 21 years and I have been teaching for 6 years. I took piano lessons with Caio Pagano at Arizona State University. My performances have included accompaning small and large ensembles, solos, and piano ensembles. My studio accepts individuals of all ages and levels. I focus on making my lessons fun and interactive. Because I have a background in Music Therapy, I am able to assess, adapt, and make each lesson tailored to the individual and their needs.  I use a wide variety of percussion instruments as well as boards, charts, and keyboards to implement what is being taught. I am a member of the Music Teachers National Association and my students participate in competitions, recitals, and the Arizona Study Program.

Hollie has loved teaching children to play the piano for over 20 years. She also accompanies church and school choirs as well as instrumental and vocal soloists. She has a background in elementary education with a music emphasis, earning an Associates degree from MCC in 1995 and a Bachelors degree from NAU in 2012.

Marti is patient, experienced, and works well with children, teen and adult students. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, she has taught private piano lessons and is certified through the International Piano Teaching Foundation. She is also a licensed Kindermusik educator, has taught Kindermusik classes, and has tauhgt music at the Grace Presbyterian Val-Ann Preschool in Littleton, Colorado. She has many years' experience as a teacher of children's music in her church, as a pianist, and as an accompanist for vocalists, solo instrumentalists, ensembles, high school, middle school and church choirs. She also plays the organ and directs music. She has studied piano privately for 13 years and has taken numerous music courses from Brigham Young University, University of Arizona, Arizona State University, Citrus College and California State University at San Bernardino.

I have been teaching piano lessons for five years and have loved every minute of it! I am currently attending Arizona State University where I am pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy. I teach lessons Monday through Thursday and Saturday in my Mesa home. I encourage daily practice from my 27 students and enjoy seeing their accomplishments. Bio:  William Gerdes, founder and director of Scottsdale Piano Studio is an accomplished musician with 10 years teaching experience.

Some of William’s performance experience includes weddings, social events, churches and recitals. Over the past 25 years he has been a member of several bands and jazz and chorus ensembles.

William believes a good teacher must be able to teach his students two fundamental things: 1) To play with artistry to fully utilize the expressiveness and beauty of the instrument and 2) To play with relaxed efficient technique to avoid strain and injury. According to Chopin, artistry and technique were inseparable.

In order to advance steadily and consistently on the instrument one must practice with purposefulness, focus and efficiency. William teaches each of his students what this means and writes a clear, concise lesson plan that covers the fundamental components of the language of music: How to speak, read and write it.

William has long been involved in composition, songwriting and recording. Much of his work is done in his own recording studio. He has entered his compositions in several songwriting competitions including Billboard Music’s songwriting competition. His current project in the works is the completion of his own music CD.

Erika Tazawa currently serves as an artist faculty at the Arizona School for the Arts, where she teaches Advanced High School Piano program.

 Since her arrival to the U.S. in 2004, Erika has quickly gained recognition nationwide as a rising pianist of her generation. She has appeared in the Classical Pianists of the Future concert series (New York), followed by international radio broadcast of the performances. In 2010, she was selected to join the Chopin Bicentennial celebration tour, performing his works in collaboration with other pianists in the northeastern U.S.

Erika also regularly appears in chamber music concerts, often in collaboration with acclaimed instrumental soloists and members of Phoenix Symphony. Her performances have been featured on radio programs such as NPR’s Performance Today, BBC London, WSKG New York, and various stations throughout Japan.

Erika holds a Master’s degree in Piano Performance, Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance with a second concentration in Piano Pedagogy from the Crane School of Music at State University of New York-Potsdam, where she received tutorledge of world-renowned Paul Wyse.

Born and raised in Brazil, Irene Kuniski received her Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from the Conservatory Dramatic Musical and the Conservatory Musical Meirelles; both in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her teachers have included A. Stankunas, Wilson Meirelles, and Dean Elder.

Irene teaches in her private studio, and for the past 40 years has taught students of all levels, from beginners through young adults. Her students participate in studio recitals, the Arizona Study Program, Piano Ensemble, and various festivals and competitions.

She is an active member of the National Music Association, Board member of Arizona State Teachers Association, and the 2007-2009 President of the Phoenix Music Teachers Association.

I love teaching children and adults. I've taught for about 40 years. My degree is in elementary education with a minor in music. For eight years I enrolled in one or two-week Summer Piano Pedagogy Courses at various colleges and universities, such as Baldwin Wallace College & Capitol University in Ohio & North Western University in Illinois. I have also taken shorter 1 to 3-day workshops and Master Classes with such wonderful teachers as Amanda Vick Lethco, Dennis Alexander, Jean Weisman and Nancy Bachus. I am a certified teacher of Kindermusik and the Mayron Cole Group Piano Method. I have focused heavily on beginning instruction because I believe a firm foundation is fundamental to future success.

I served several years as the Akron, Ohio Chairman for the National Guild of Piano Teachers. All of my students entered annually. The Guild frowns upon publishing student ratings so I will only say I was pleased with all of my students. I also served as a judge for the National Federation of Piano Teachers. Most of my performance experience is as an accompanist for soloists and small professional vocal or instrumental groups.

When we moved to Gilbert in 1996, I became an active member of Desert Valley Music Teachers Association. All of my students participated in a minimum of two annual events, most entered 3 or more and several entered all the events. Over the past 8 years it has become difficult for me to manage being out and about without assistance with things that aren't convenient for me to manage alone. I miss my association with the many wonderful teachers I met at DVMTA.

I emphasize theory, ear training, sight-reading, transposing using movable "do", some composition and improvising, technique, playing musically with feeling, ensemble playing and performance etiquette and confidence. I teach students how to practice effectively. I have one formal recital a year along with student recitals and other performance opportunities.

Though I've been semi-retired, today's economy has me building my studio again. I have a few openings after school and in the mornings before school. Daytime lessons are available for Adults and Home School Students. I do not teach in the evenings. All lessons are in my Gilbert home.

Crystal Gheen studied violin under Dr. Jonathan Swartz and Dr. Katie McLin at Arizona State University where she earned her Bachelors degree in Music Edcuation with an emphasis in Strings.  While attending  ASU, she was an active member in the ASU Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.  While she played in the ASU Symphony, she accompanied such artists as Regina Carter, Daniel Bernard Romain and Phillip Glass.  She has also played violin and viola in the ASU Chamber Quartet program where she had the wonderful opportunity to work with members from the Julliard String Quartet and The St. Lawrence String Quartet.  She also was an ASU orchestra scholarship recipient from 2004-2007.  While at ASU, she taught classes and private lessons in the highly acclaimed String Project.  In 2008, she was chosen to represent the ASU String Project at the American String Teacher's Association conference held in New Mexico.

Crystal Gheen began her violin studies at the age of nine.  Growing up, she excelled in her music studies and became a member of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and the Phoenix Youth Symphony Guild.  In high school, she participated in Regional and All State festivals on violin and viola.  In 2003, she held the principal viola position in her region and then went on to hold the concert master position in violin the next year.  While in high school, she also was a member of the Mesa Community College Chamber music program and the Scottsdale Community College Symphony.  She has also played back up for Marc Anthony, Marcos Antonio Solis & Laura Pausini.  She has played for various churches, choirs,  and local folk/rock bands. 

Ms. Gheen has been teaching private violin, viola & piano lessons for eight years.  She has maintained a private studio ranging in ages 4-64 and has taught beginner through advanced levels.  Her students are leaders in their school orchestras and continue to attain seats in Regional and All State Orchestras around the state.  She prides herself on being an innovative and creative teacher. 

My name is Sarah Elise Grosland and I have recently moved to Tempe from St. Cloud, Minnesota. I have been playing the piano for 31 years and teaching piano lessons for 18. I work with students of all ages, ranging in skill levels from beginners to early advanced.

 I have recently become a member of the Desert Valley Music Teachers Association and the East Valley Music Teachers Association, Arizona State Music Teachers, and the Music Teachers National Association, so I will be able to offer my students numerous event/performance occasions throughout the year. I also plan to have two recitals, Winter and Spring. I encourage my students to volunteer their talents whenever possible and will be looking into opportunities for students to play at senior citizen communities, and other venues, around the time of recitals.

Hi! I have always loved music and want to help others come to love music too. I think music is very important in a person's life. And I believe learning a musical instrument is a great way to develop an appreciation for music, coordination, and to build confidence. I have played violin for 20 years and can teach beginner thru intermediate violin. I have also been studying piano for 15 years and love to teach beginner piano. I teach lessons out of my home, but I am willing to travel if need be.

I have been teaching for approximately 20 yrs. and love it. I teach traditional classical sight-reading as well as chords/theory/ear training to enable students to better play by ear, play off of a lead sheet, or learn to arrange and compose their own music. I earned my bachelor's degree in 1991 with a double major, arts and education. Music was a minor, but it is my passion!

Have been teaching 1976, Have a BA in Music History, a MM in Choral Music. My major instruments have been piano and organ. At present, am Music Director at Memorial Presbyterian Church as organist, pianist, choir director and Handbell Choir Director. Have served in this capacity at other churches. Bachelor Degree in Music Performance and Child Development, performed in jazz bands, orchestras and musicals, produced children's musicals, sponsor jazz clinics and master lessons with concert pianists for my students to experience music in a bigger way. Trained in Orff, Suzuki, mentored under concert artists from New York, New Jersey, attended many world-re-known music camps and music prep programs throughout the country. Many previous students are professional today or have received high honors in music on a national level, and music scholarships. One continuous thread is that my student LOVE to play music even years later. I love teaching music as artistry to any age and believe that music is nurtured from the heart. Anyone can become great with hard work and given the proper tools.

I have been playing the piano for over 20 years. I love music, and one of my primary goals is to get my students as excited about the power of music as I am. I write my own songs, love classical music, but also work a lot on ear training for those who want to play what they hear on the radio. I passed the AP Music theory test back in high school and since then theory has been a huge part of my life and I encourage my students to always keep their theory understanding at least equal to their playing ability. I have semi-annual recitals for my 10+ students, and am new to the Queen Creek area and am looking to grow my studio even more.

Hello! My name is Nicci (pronounced Nicky).  I am excited to be able to give back part of the wonderful gift I have been given.  I teach from my home which is conveniently located near Country Club & University in Mesa. I have lived most of my life in Mesa, Arizona and I love it here. I have been married for 5 years to the love of my life. We have 3 beautiful children. Music has always been an important part of my life. There are two women who have greatly influenced my love for music, and the development of my musical talents. The first is my grandmother. She gave me my first piano lesson when I was 5 years old and I was so excited! The second is the piano teacher that taught me through most of my youth. She always encouraged me to teach, and thanks to her inspiration, example and guidance I have finally taken the plunge! Although I have never played at Carnegie Hall, I have had the privilege to play for most of my adult life in various callings at church and as an accompanist for vocal and instrumental soloists and choirs. I am so grateful for the talent that I have been given, and would love to help you discover yours!

In addition to private piano instruction, I also teach Let's Play Music! classes to children ages 4-6.  Let's Play Music! is a music theory course that emphasizes total musicianship through piano playing, singing, classical music, note reading and ear training... and it's accomplished through PLAY!  This really is the most fantastic program I have found to teach music to young children. Angela A. Jacob has over 35 years experience as a private piano instructor. She studied music at Stephen F. Austin State University, receiving her MA in piano performance with a minor in Voice in 1972. Mrs. Jacob has taught in Texas, New Mexico, and Tennessee, where she received a certification from Memphis State University in teaching the Suzuki Piano Method (in which students can begin piano at age 3). She currently has a studio in Glendale.
