About Our Play Periods

The Play Period is a unique approach to purchasing a piano, but itʼs a simple one. You get the chance to date your new piano for 6 to 12 months before decide if you want to get married or not. That’s it! Spend some time playing it, see how it blends in with your decor, get the kids involved, listen to the acoustics in your home, gain some perspective.

The play rate is the amount you pay each month during your play period. For simplicity sake, we have grouped all of our pianos into one of 6 play rates from $30 to $175 depending on the caliber of the instrument you need. 100% of this money is yours to spend on anything in our inventory when you are ready to make a purchase.

When the play period is over, you have 4 great options to choose from:

  • payoff the instrument
  • return the instrument
  • use your play credit to trade up for a better piano
  • keep the piano on a month to month basis until it becomes clear what you should do next

You get to pick the option that makes the most sense for you. Your timeframe, your budget, your comfort level, and you in control from start to finish.

Admit it, even if your like me and like to pay cash for everything up front, this option still makes total sense. It’s more serious than a rental, more flexible than a lease and less risky than a blind purchase off an internet ad. Since we perform no credit checks, never charge leasing or interest fees, and since the price of the piano is guaranteed from day one, the My First Piano “Play Period” becomes an amazing option for anyone interested in giving the piano a shot.
